NPC members’ digital agency honored by D.C. Chamber of Commerce

The digital agency Social Driver, operated by National Press Club members Thomas Sanchez and Anthony Shop, has been named D.C. Small Business Champion of 2012 by the D.C. Chamber of Commerce.

The small company, which was nominated for the award along with several area competitors, connects companies with people online by designing websites, developing mobile applications and managing social media campaigns.

Founded three years ago, Social Driver (www.socialdriver.com) has increased its full-time staff to seven, opened an office in Bellingham, Wash., and developed a strong network in the D.C. area. Contacts made through Sanchez's and Shop's membership in the National Press Club "have been instrumental to the company's growth," said Sanchez, founder and CTO.

“It’s very humbling to receive this honor from the D.C. Chamber, such a reputable and successful business organization in our community,” said Shop, managing director.

Shop serves as chair of NPC's Events Committee, Sanchez as vice chair of the Communications and Marketing Committee. Both have led workshops on how to leverage digital technology, such as Twitter and LinkedIn, for members.
