NPC Freelance Committee Discusses Whether to Write a Book

Should you write a book? That's the question that the Club's Freelance Committee considered at their meeting May 21.

Anna Lafferty, a Santa Barbara, Calif., book designer and professor of publication design in Santa Barbara, CA, offered lots of questions that freelancers should consider before writing.

They include who the author is writing for, where it will be sold, why should it be a book, and why would someone read it.

She told prospective authors that they would be part of a team, including the designer, editor and publisher. "You can't make a book alone," she said.
