NBC4’S Pat Collins plans virtual discussion of ‘Newsman’ memoir with indie authors, Sept. 9

Pat Collins, general assignment reporter for NBC4 in Washington, D.C., plans to discuss "Newsman," his self-published memoir about his roughly 50-year career in journalism, at the Thursday,  Sept. 9, meeting of the Independent Authors Group.

Cover of Pat Collins' book 'Newsman.'Collins joined News4 in 1986. Previously, he worked for WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., and WLS-TV in Chicago. He also spent seven years as a general assignment, investigative and feature reporter for WDVM-TV (now WUSA-TV) in Washington, D.C.

He began his career as a print journalist working first for the Washington Daily News and later for the Washington Star. Collins actually began writing for newspapers at the age of 15, and, by the age of 17 he had a regular column in the Daily News.

Collins has earned 10 Emmy awards, two Clarion awards, and a Chesapeake Associated Press Award for "Best Feature Reporter." He was inducted into The Silver Circle by the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his more than 25 years of television service in Washington, D.C.

The Independent Authors Group is an informal forum for independently-published authors to discuss the business of authorship and share successes and challenges with regard to the writing, publishing, marketing, and distribution of their books.
