Naval Institute editor to discuss China's naval expansion, U.S. shipbuilding problems, March 11

Capt. Bill Hamblet (U.S. Navy, ret.) plans to discuss China’s naval expansion, problems with U.S. shipbuilding, and other maritime issues at the next meeting of the National Press Club's affiliated American Legion post. The meeting will take place at noon on Wednesday, March 11, in the McClendon Room at the Club's Reliable Source restaurant. 

Hamblet is editor-in-chief of "Proceedings," the magazine of the U.S. Naval Institute. He's a 1987 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and he served 29 years on active duty as a naval intelligence officer. He joined the staff of the Naval Institute in 2016.

All Press Club members are invited to the luncheon meeting of American Legion Post 20. Attendees are asked to bring $30 in cash to cover the cost of the buffet, taxes and tip.

This will be a hybrid meeting, with a Zoom component for those who live outside the DC area or who cannot get to the Press Club to be there in person. The Zoom link is posted below.

American Legion Post 20 has been affiliated with the National Press Club for more than a century. It was founded at the suggestion of famed World War I General John J. Pershing, who was an associate member of the Club at the time.
