On Monday, roar into the 1920s by showing your flapper flair, or waltz in like Fred Astaire!

In celebration of the Speakeasy night Oct. 3, prizes will be awarded to those who wear the appropriate attire. Categories include flirtiest flapper (best female), best zoot suit (best male) and Great Gatsby group (best couple or group). Prizes, including gift certificates to The Fourth Estate Restaurant, will be awarded.

The Reliable Source will host the Maureen Mullaney Jazz Quartet, which will perform period music. To get you in the proper frame of mind, the bartenders will serve Prohibition-era cocktails, such as Sidecars. An episode of Ken Burns' documentary 'Prohibition' will be screened beginning at 7 p.m. in the McClendon Room. For those who want to raise the stakes, the Young Members Committee will host a poker game in the Game Room.

Don’t let taxation stop you from being as classy or as jazzy as you want. Press Club Celebrity Judges - including past presidents - will be watching!

Members interested in attending on Oct. 3 should contact Events Committee Chairman Anthony Shop for the Speakeasy's password: [email protected].
