Legends of Broadcast: Next dinner features 'TV Voice of Nats' Bob Carpenter, Oct. 22

Bob Carpenter, longtime TV voice of the Washington Nationals and veteran sportscaster, will be the National Press Club Broadcast-Podcast Team's latest guest in its "Legends of Broadcast" dinner series.
Purchase your ticket here for the Oct. 22 event in the Fourth Estate Room, which begins with a cash bar reception at 6 p.m. Cost of the three-course dinner with two glasses of wine is $70 for Club members.
Carpenter is in his 20th season with the Nats and his 42nd season as a Major League Baseball broadcaster. He plans to retire after the 2025 season, concluding a career that has spanned more than four decades.
A two-time Emmy winner, Carpenter has covered a wide range of sports. He spent 18 years at ESPN, where he hosted the first "College Gameday" and called college football, basketball and MLB games. He also covered seven NCAA basketball tournaments, including the 2005 Final Four, and broadcast major events like the U.S. Open, The Masters, and two Soccer World Cups.
In 2014, he was named Washington, D.C., Sportscaster of the Year and was inducted into the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2017. Across thousands of broadcasts, he has become one of the most respected voices in American sports.
These limited-access informal events allow NPC members and their guests to hear the honoree's remarks and participate in an intimate Q&A.
Introductions and dinner start at 6:45 p.m. The format is for the guest of honor to make remarks, and then the floor is open to an informal Q&A session that ends by 8:30 p.m.
