Learn about Club Press Freedom Center at reception Oct. 7
The National Press Club’s Press Freedom Team will host its first of a new, recurring series of Cocktails and Conversations gatherings on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

The event will feature remarks from formerly detained journalist Alsu Kurmasheva, who spent nearly a year in Russian detention. She will discuss her time in detention and her work as a press freedom advocate, and she will give updates on recent press freedom developments in Russia and in Europe more broadly. She accepted the President's Award during the 51st Annual National Press Club Journalism Awards dinner on Aug. 28, 2024, from then-Club President Emily Wilkins.
This event will take place 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Bloomberg Room, with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m. Reserve your spot here.
This is a members-only invitation, though members are encouraged to bring a guest who may be interested in joining the Club. Learn more about the guest speaker at the bottom of the page linked for making a reservation.
