Ambassador Khirullah spoke about Iraq’s objectives in international cooperation and economic development, and the country’s challenges 20 years after beginning of democracy in the country.

The reception allowed members to meet embassy staff, and gain a knowledge and appreciation of Iraq and its culture. The event included a traditional Iraqi feast featuring lamb, chicken, and rice dishes followed by dessert prepared by the ambassador’s chef.

Celebrating her first event as the 117th Club President, Emily Wilkens, CNBC Washington Correspondent, took to the podium and spoke of “building bridges and connections,” a primary mission of the International Correspondents Committee ‘Embassy Nights’ series, she said.
