Hancock, Marsalis among jazz luminaries to visit Club

This Week In National Press Club History

Sept. 18, 2006: Herbie Hancock, one of the foremost jazz pianists of the past half century, “spoke through his keyboard” at a National Press Club luncheon.

Sept. 22, 2005: Wynton Marsalis, jazz trumpeter, discusses rebuilding New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina at a luncheon.

These two great performers are among the renowned jazz musicians who’ve appeared at the Club throughout the years, including Benny Goodman and Louis Armstrong.

This Week In National Press Club History is brought to you by the History & Heritage Committee, which is dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the Club’s history through displays, panel discussions, lectures and events, as well as the oral history project.
