Good advice never takes a vacation: Talk to a mentor in August
It’s the time of the season when, at least in theory, summer is here and the living is easy.
But your Professional Development Committee knows better! Rest assured we are here for all members, even in August, to help with on-the-spot job counseling, resume critiquing, cover letter constructing or just be good listeners to help colleagues looking to retack, reboot or retrain themselves.
On that note, we're offering virtual appointments on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have already joined our mentoring program, this is a separate opportunity to speak to a professional development committee mentor this month on an ad hoc basis during the following designated open (virtual) office hours:
Friday, Aug. 9: 9 a.m. EDT
Monday, Aug. 12: 3 p.m. EDT
Thursday, Aug. 15: 3 p.m. EDT
Saturday, Aug, 17: 10 a.m. EDT
Monday, Aug. 19: 9 a.m. EDT
Sunday Aug. 25: 10 a.m. EDT
This schedule may be adjusted over August depending on interest.
We're also looking for volunteers who'd be interested in helping with these pop-up mentorship hours. Please reply with which days and times work best. And we're also inviting anyone interested in a pop-up mentorship session to reach out.
We will be returning to regular programming this fall, with an event slated for September 5th in the Truman Lounge where we'll also have mentors available for informal in-person meetups and a chance to get more direct counseling.
