Moved by the election of the country’s first Black president, Dyer, a 31-year-old, part-time community college student,  applied in 2009 for a White House internship. She eventually earned a full-time position. Three promotions later, she became White House social secretary, one of the senior protocol officials in the Obama administration.

In her new memoir, “Undiplomatic: How My Attitude Created the Best Kind of Trouble,” Dyer candidly details the journey of her life before, during and after her time at the Obama White House.

The program will include a question-and-answer session. To submit a question in advance, put “DYER” in the subject line and email it to [email protected].
