WASHINGTON, Oct. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Gerry Adams TD, Former Sinn Féin President and an architect of the 1998 Good Friday peace agreement (GFA), will discuss the threat he believes Brexit poses to Ireland's peace, progress and prosperity, and address increasing calls for an Irish Unity referendum at a National Press Club Headliners Newsmaker on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 10:00 a.m.

The visit will coincide with the last European Council meeting in advance of the October 31 Brexit deadline. This Council meeting is expected to be the last opportunity for an agreement between the EU and the British government on the conditions of their withdrawal from the EU. In the event of a no-deal Brexit a physical boarder across Ireland could be reinstated – a move that some fear may threaten Northern Ireland's political and economic stability.

This event will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the Club's Fourth Estate Room, and is open to credentialed media and members of the National Press Club; however, registration is required. Please click here to register.

The National Press Club is located on the 13th Floor of the National Press Building at 529 14th St., NW, Washington, D.C.
