DC students show wildlife photos at NPC June 13
Student wildlife photographers from Washington, D.C., plan to display their work in the National Press Club lobby on Friday, June 13, with a program and reception in the Bloomberg Room beginning at 6 p.m.
The reception, including a cash bar, is free for NPC members and guests; RSVPs are required.
The event gives Club members an opportunity to meet the students and view their work. The five photographers will display 77 digital images from Birds Connect DC, a new workshop for D.C. school students sponsored by the D.C. Bird Alliance. The NPC Photography Team members donated cameras for use by the students.
The multi-day workshop, held in April, provided instruction in wildlife photography, with discussions of educational and career opportunities in environmental sciences for students. The Alliance says the workshop helps develop bird-friendly communities across all of D.C.'s eight wards and encourages participants to champion conservation efforts in their own neighborhoods.
