If you visit the National Press Club this week, you can view sparkling images by the next generation of photojournalists from District of Columbia high schools. The Club is hosting the first D.C. high school news photography exhibit, Tues., Dec. 5 through Friday, Dec. 8, in the Club's main lobby. Plus, Club members are invited to a reception to meet the student photographers and faculty advisors on Friday, Dec. 8 at 6:00 pm. The event is free, but RSVPs are requested.  NPC's Photography Team is starting small with this new show, displaying photos from four high schools in D.C., representing public, private, and charter schools: School Without Walls, Friendship Collegiate Academy, D.C. International School, and the Maret School.

All of the images appeared this calendar year in school publications or yearbooks, and include photos of academics, athletics, and student life in general. And many of the athletic photos capture high energy action; see the image above from Friendship Collegiate Academy. The exhibit catalog tells more about the students' photos.
