From the Club President: Committee fair, 5K on tap

Summer is here and there are a lot of great things going on at the Club.

On Monday, June 4, we are having a committee fair/open house at 6 p.m. This is a chance for you to find out about the different committees and how you can get more involved in your Club. This is also a great opportunity to bring a prospective member to introduce them to the National Press Club. Please be sure to RSVP to Sarah Driggs at [email protected].

I hope you all will join me at the Press Club BEAT THE DEADLINE 5k on Saturday, June 9. Sign up to be part of my team “Theresa and Her Presidential Front Runners.” You can meet P90X creator Tony Horton. The 5K benefits the ongoing work of the National Press Club Journalism Institute. Tony will also be hosting a P90X workout on Thursday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Ballroom. For more information or to register, go to www.press.org/5k.

I am very excited to announce that we will have a July 4 event at the Club for members and their guests with snacks and drinks. The Club will be closed for the holiday, but open to members who reserve a space. Details are elsewhere in this edition of the Wire.

We have just ended our annual dues renewal period. I want to personally thank all of you who have continued your membership. At this time, staff will be randomly checking for membership cards. So please remember to bring your card with you to the Club and be polite and respectful to our hardworking staff as they are doing their job.

I look forward to seeing you around the Club.
