Club becomes Speakeasy on Oct. 3; "Prohibition" documentary screening at 7 p.m.

The Reliable Source will transform into a 1920s Speakeasy, replete with Prohibition-style cocktails and entertainment at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3.

In honor of the day's National Press Club luncheon speaker Ken Burns and his newest documentary, "Prohibition," members are invited to relive that era.

In the Reliable Source, Prohibition-era cocktails will be served -- some in coffee mugs to elude the authorities. The Maureen Mullaney quartet will perform a combination of Roaring 20s music and contemporary jazz and blues standards in the Truman Lounge from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

An episode of 'Prohibition' will be screened at 7 p.m. in the McClendon Room, where members may order dinner or drinks. Dinner and happy hour will begin at 5:30 p.m.

There are even rumors that a members-only poker game may take place in the Game Room.

There is no cost for members and their guests to enter the Speakeasy -- but they must "speak easy" so as not to raise the attention of lawmen!
