Ed Barks, a National Press Club member and founder of the  Club's independent authors group, plans to discuss his new book, "Reporters Don’t Hate You: 100+ Amazing Media Relations Strategies," at a National Press Club Virtual Book Rap sponsored by the Book & Author Group on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m.

As the author himself says, “Dealing with the press is a high wire act.”  Company spokespersons hold their firm’s future in their hands when they talk to the media, Barks said. The new volume lists more than 100 media-relations strategies broken out into categories including pre-interview preparations, sharpening the spokesperson’s mindset, performance guidelines for dealing with the press, and more.

This is Barks’ third book, arriving on the heels of two publications last year -- "A+ Strategies for C-Suite Communications: Turning Today’s Leaders into Tomorrow’s Influencers" and a new second edition of "The Truth About Public Speaking: The Three Keys to Great Presentations."

Even the savviest public-relations executives can use the guide that Barks has written. So tune in on Zoom and hear how to deal with the hottest questions as well as the tricks and traps of the reporters’ trade.

The Book & Author Group seeks to produce Book Raps for Club members to promote their recently published books. To inquire about the group, please contact Joe Motheral at [email protected]. The group meets (currently virtually) on the second Tuesday of the month at noon.
