Boost your job prospects at Career Day on Friday

National Press Club members, journalists of all types and affiliations and communication professionals who are looking for new opportunities are invited to consider attending the 2024 Career Day at the National Press Club, an in-person job bonanza that will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, March 22.

Tickets are on sale now$10 for Club members, $15 for students and $25 for the general public. Anyone interested in purchasing group tickets, may email [email protected].

It's a two-way avenue — employers can connect to potential talent; participants can meet recruiters and exhibitors, get job search training, and have a free professional headshot made (included in the cost of registration) during the daylong intensive focus on the profession.

Participants can expect to meet dozens of recruiters from some of the top newsrooms and PR/communication firms in the exhibitor hall, which will be open all day. Among recruiters are expected to be representatives of fellowship and academic opportunities for those exploring different career paths.

Between handshakes, attendees can refresh their professional image in the pop-up headshot studio, with photo sessions available free to ticketholders on a first-come, first-served basis.

The National Press Club Journalism Institute has four professional development programs planned for ticketholders:

  • Nail the interview: Advice for success in a hybrid job market
  • Cover letter strategies: Telling - and selling - your story and experience
  • Job search strategies: Staying organized, staying motivated

Ticketholders will receive:

  • Direct access to recruiters in journalism, public relations and communications industries
  • A free photo session in our pop-up headshot studio, with photos delivered by email
  • Demonstrations of tools and products that support your work and career
  • Career-focused training sessions produced by the National Press Club Journalism Institute
