Books & Brunch to discuss Sinclair Lewis novel, Feb. 15

The Books & Brunch group will meet virtually at noon Saturday, Feb. 15, to discuss "It Can't Happen Here," a novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Sinclair Lewis.

To receive a Zoom link, please email Fay Iudicello at [email protected] by Thursday, Feb. 13. Those who RSVP should expect to receive the invitation at 9 a.m. on Feb. 15.

"It Can't Happen Here" charts the rise of a fictional populist presidential candidate Berzelius "Buzz" Windrip through the eyes of a small town newspaper editor. Written during the Great Depression, Sinclair's satire exposes the weaknesses of democracy that could allow fascism to take hold.

Planning ahead? The group will discuss "Longstreet: The Confederate General Who Defied the South" by Elizabeth Varon at its meeting on March 15.
