Books & Brunch to discuss 'Patriot' on Saturday, May 17

The National Press Club Books & Brunch group will meet virtually via Zoom at noon Saturday, May 17, to discuss "Patriot: A Memoir" by Alexei Navalny.

A New York Times Bestseller and a National Book Critics Circle Award winner, "Patriot" reveals the motivations behind attorney and opposition leader Alexei Navalny's fearless challenge to Vladimir Putin's authoritarian leadership of Russia. Begun shortly after his near-fatal poisoning by a nerve agent in 2020, Navalny recounts the campaign he and his compatriots in the opposition waged against Putin's regime while also reflecting  on the personal price he and his family paid for his activism. Russian prison officials reported in 2024 that Navalny had died in an Arctic Circle penal colony.

To receive a Zoom link, please email Fay Iudicello at [email protected] by Thursday, May 15. Those who RSVP should expect to receive the invitation at 9 a.m. on May 17.

Planning ahead?  Books & Brunch will discuss the  "The Uncommon Reader," a novel by Alan Bennett at noon on Saturday, June 21 via Zoom.
