Best-selling author Craig Unger to discuss book on Iran hostage crisis, Oct. 22

New York Times bestselling author Craig Unger will discuss his new book, “Den of Spies: Reagan, Carter, and the Secret History of the Treason That Stole the White House” at a National Press Club Headliners book event on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m.

Unger, a former editor-in-chief of Boston Magazine and contributing editor for Vanity Fair, examines the 1980 presidential election and accusations that the Reagan campaign interfered with the Carter administration’s efforts to free 52 American hostages held in Iran. Unger’s 30-year pursuit of the story behind the 1980 “October Surprise” culminates in this work, which was published on Oct. 1, President Carter’s 100th birthday.

The event will include a discussion with the author and a book signing. Ticket prices are $5 for National Press Club members and $10 for the general public. Pre-ordered books will be available for pickup and signing at the event. A limited number of books will also be available for purchase at the door. Click here to register for the event.
