American Legion Post 20 meeting on Sept. 16 to focus on writing veterans' stories
The National Press Club's affiliated American Legion post will meet Sept. 16 at noon to learn about preserving a veteran's biography and legacy through written and visual platforms. Post 20 Sergeant-at-Arms Evelyn Moy will present via Zoom her presentation, "Writing a Veteran's Legacy." If you or a family member or friend has served in the military, this information can help record the veteran's legacy for historical or family purposes. Evelyn is a retired Navy commander and public affairs officer,
Also at the meeting, Post 20 vice commander Lincoln Smith plans to highlight the American Legion's four pillars, with special emphasis on the National Security pillar. He's also a retired Navy commander and former public affairs officer. His civilian experience includes work as a broadcast journalist,
All Legion and Press Club members are invited to the luncheon meeting in the Club's McClendon Room. The Reliable Source asks that attendees pay with a single bill, paid in cash. To facilitate this, attendees are asked to use the buffet and not order individually, and to bring $30 in cash to cover the meal, tax, and tip.
This will be a hybrid meeting, with a Zoom component for those who live outside the DC area or who cannot get to the Press Club. The Zoom link is posted below.
Post 20 has been affiliated with the Press Club for more than a century. The post was founded by famed World War I General John J. Pershing, who was an associate member of the Press Club at the time.
