American Legion Post 20 to discuss media/military issues at the National Press Club, Jan. 8

American Legion Post 20 member and Military Veterans in Journalism founder Zack Baddorf plans to lead a panel discussion on various media/military issues at the group's Jan. 8 meeting at the National Press Club.

All Club members are invited to the luncheon meeting at noon in the McClendon Room of the NPC's Reliable Source. The buffet will be available at a cost of $23. For the luncheon, the Club asks attendees to combine everything into one bill. Attendees are asked to bring cash. Cash collected in excess of the bill will be given to the wait staff as a tip. Guests are welcome.

Topics are expected to include politicization of the military and its impact on the military/veteran community, the challenge of reaching audiences across a partisan divide, and the importance of nuanced military/veterans affairs coverage. Panelists include Post 20 members Kevin Wensing, Jim Noone, Ken Dalecki, Evelyn Moy, and possibly others yet to be named.

The discussion will be conducted under Chatham House rules, meaning no outside coverage or social-media sharing other than the Zoom connection for those who wish to attend remotely. Please contact Post Commander Tom Young for information on how to access the meeting virtually.

Due to a speaker cancellation, Legion Post 20 changed its plans for the Jan. 8 meeting

Post 20 has been affiliated with the Press Club for more than a century. The post was founded at the suggestion of famed World War I General John J. Pershing.
