All set for the Austin Tice Virtual 5K – this Saturday
On your mark, get set – it’s almost time to walk, run or join National Press Club colleagues online for the Austin Tice Virtual 5 K Race this Saturday, November 8th. And there’s still time to sign up, although your t-shirt may be delayed.
Start time is 9 a.m. On race day all local participants will meet up in front of the NPC building to walk or run a classic Washington course that circles monuments around the National Mall. It’s scenic and challenging, but supporting our missing colleague and his family is the point.
Steve Reilly has put together the course and will be leading the runners. Zach Cohen will be with the walkers.
T-shirts are in now! To arrange to pick-up your t-shirt, please contact Julie Schrieber: [email protected]
Austin Tice is the detained journalist who was abducted in Syria while on assignment 13 years ago. The Press Freedom Center has been working with the Tice family, pressing his case for years.
Journalists and supporters in the Washington, D.C. area will be joined by those local members who participate virtually. Race participants nationwide and globally are also stepping up to help the Tice family keep his case in the spotlight.
