Mr. Rood gave the 1994 Robert L. Kozik Award for Environmental Reporting to Jane Kay for her article about San Franciso Bay. She then made brief remarks accepting the award. Mr. Rood then introduced Mr. Wirth. Mr. Wirth spoke about the need for the United States to reassess its long-term foreign policy goals in a new and quickly-changing that emerged from the wake of the cold war. After his prepared remarks, he took questions from the audience.
