Join us at the National Press Club at 4:30 p.m. ET on May 1 as we gather in recognition of World Press Freedom Day: A moment to celebrate the essential role of a free press and to stand in clear-eyed solidarity with journalists around the world.
This year, we come together with both pride and urgency.
Across the globe and here at home, journalists are doing extraordinary work under increasing pressure — facing threats, arrests, restrictions, and a rapidly shifting information landscape. Yet, every day, they continue to report, investigate, and inform their communities with courage and integrity.
This reception is an opportunity to pause and recognize that work — to connect with colleagues, partners, and advocates committed to press freedom — and to reaffirm our shared responsibility to support and protect it. The event is open to all National Press Club members and to members of the public who support press freedom. Tickets are available for purchase now.
The evening will feature brief remarks, community, and conversation, highlighting both the challenges ahead and the enduring strength of a free and independent press. We’ll also introduce our 2026 Press Freedom Fellow Cohort, journalists who have experienced obstacles but who persist in their pursuit of journalism.
We hope you’ll join us. We are stronger together. Get tickets now.
Ticket sales close on Thursday, April 30, at 11:30 p.m. ET. There will be no entry without a ticket.
