Words of War tells the story of world-renowned journalist and human rights activist Anna Politkovskaya, whose fearless reporting exposed corruption, human rights abuses, and war crimes—ultimately leading to her assassination in 2006. The film is a sobering portrayal of the dangers that journalists face in the 21st century and serves as a tribute to all with the courage to risk their lives in pursuit of truth.
The film will be screened at the Press Club in collaboration with Rolling Pictures and the Committee to Protect Journalists. Following the screening, the film's cast and crew, including Rolling Pictures president Mark Maxey and Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-14), will participate in a panel discussion moderated by Jim Acosta.
The event is free for members and $15 for non-members (ticket includes one free drink).
