News Conference

In response to water scarcity crises in multiple regions across the U.S. and globally, the International Code Council (The Code Council) will host a high-level meeting of water experts from across government, academia, and the water utility sector to examine water conservation solutions achievable through newly updated building standards and codes. As the focal event of its World Water Awareness 2024 campaign, The Code Council will bring together leading water experts from DC Water, U.S. EPA, and U.S. DOI, Bureau of Reclamation for, “Standards Save: A Water Conservation Summit,” on Thurs., March 21, 2024, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Members of the news media are encouraged to attend the Water Conservation Summit live news conference with full Q&A.

In partnership with University of Miami, The Code Council will release the findings of, “Water Conservation and Codes: Leveraging Global Water-Efficient Building Standards to Avert Shortfalls,” conducted by the University, which examines the critical need for the rapid adoption of the updated water conservation standards contained in the 2024 International Water Conservation Code Provisions (IWCCP). The Study shows potential water savings for one-and two-family dwellings in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Houston and Des Moines based on adoption of the IWCCP.
