Join the National Press Club Communicators Team for a Lunch & Learn on Monday, October 20 at 12 p.m. where Dr. Paula Nadler and Dr. Mitch Marovitz will discuss the integration of virtual reality into communications education.

What is virtual reality and why is it important for you to know how the future leaders of the communication industry are learning their profession?

Dr. Paula Nadler and Dr. Mitch Marovitz have been at the forefront of the University of Maryland Global Campus’ two year experiment investigating the value of virtual reality (VR) in the classroom.

Paula, an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus, has led the way in researching how best to integrate the capabilities of offered by virtual reality into the communication classroom. She will speak about her journey of investigation, from using VR as an enrichment to the school’s learning platform, then fully integrating a speech course into a commercial third-party platform the results she found it had on the students’ learning experience.

Mitch, co-leader of the NPC communications team, will speak about the the genesis of the experiment, his experiences teaching undergraduate journalism and graduate strategic communication using VR to enrich the students’ learning experiences, and give us a hint of where the experiment is headed.

In-person participants will enjoy a self-funded lunch from the Reliable Source at 12 p.m., with the program for in-person and virtual attendees beginning at 12:30 p.m.
