Senator Webb to Speak on Governing Principles for U.S. National Security

U.S. Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) will speak at a National Press Club Newsmaker press conference at 10:00 a.m. on Pearl Harbor Day, Tuesday, December 7, in the Zenger Room of the National Press Building, 529 14th St., N.W., Washington, DC. He will speak on the need for a set of governing principles to be put into place that will clearly define the strategic objectives of the United States.

Sen. Webb, who chairs Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs, will outline his suggestions that the United States redefine its relationship with China, recalibrate its approach to international terrorism, and develop an approach to be evenly applied regarding our relations with countries whose governmental systems are different than our own.

Sen. Webb, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee, will also discuss his views about the best way to reconfigure the United States military as we head into the post-Iraq, post-Afghanistan era.
