There has never been a more anticipated Opening Day for baseball than the 2020 season. Unfortunately, baseball fans won't be heading to the ballpark this year, so the Press Club will be creating an alternative experience and the next safest option to watching the game at home.

Fifty fans will have the opportunity to watch the World Champion Washington Nationals play the New York Yankees on Thursday, July 23. The pregame will be projected on the big screen in our ballroom beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the first pitch at 7:08 p.m. No more than 50 guests will be allowed in the ballroom and each guest will have their own table to ensure enough physical distance to enjoy the game safely. Masks must be worn at all times and no food or drink is allowed in the ballroom.

Attendees are encouraged to visit one of two locations in the club for your favorite ballpark food and drinks. While there, masks may be removed to eat and drink but social distancing must be observed and the time in these rooms is limited to 20 minutes. The game will be on monitors in these eating rooms.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here. Members are allowed to purchase one additional ticket for a guest.  These non-refundable tickets include:

  • (1) Drink ticket. No drinks served after the 7th inning
  • Free Bottled Water
  • Choice of foods: hot dog, wings, pizza, popcorn
  • Free National's cookie on departure
  • Replica Washington Post from the day the Nationals won the World Series
  • Selfie Station

The Club is committed to providing an enjoyable and safe environment. Safety features include: temperature checks and screening questions upon entry; one guest at a time in restrooms; guests will be asked to leave if they do not maintain six feet of social distance or exhibit proper mask wearing. All guest must be 21 or older.

We understand this is not for everyone, but we think it can be a special event to share with a family member or neighbor and to be with fans watching the game in a large and safe space. For questions about the event contact Kate Helster at [email protected].
