West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey will explain the arguments behind his state's legal challenge to the Clean Air Act at a Headliners Newsmaker event on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. Joining Morrisey is Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita.

The U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments in the case, West Virginia, et al., v. Environmental Protection Agency, on Feb. 28.

Several Republican-led states and coal companies have joined West Virginia to question how much authority the EPA has to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. A federal appeals court on Jan. 19, 2021 struck down the Trump administration's plan to relax restrictions on carbon emissions by power plants.

This one-hour program will feature in-person media attendance and will also stream live. The livestream is accessible to both the media and members of the general public free-of-charge.

A moderated question-and-answer session will follow Morrisey and Rokita's remarks. Viewers are invited to submit their questions in advance or during the live program via email to [email protected] with SCOTUS in the subject line. The moderator will ask as many questions as time permits.
