Three million children play soccer and face a risk from head injuries and concussions. On Wed., Nov. 14 at 10 am in the National Press Club’s Bloomberg Room a panel of experts on youth sports and sports medicine will discuss the risks posed by head injuries and announce a new collaboration aimed at improving the standard of care for youth athletes across the nation.

Speaking at the National Press Club Headliners news conference will be:


  • Chris Moore, CEO, US Youth Soccer –the largest youth sports organization in the United States.

  • Jennifer Wethe, Ph.D. – Mayo Clinic Neuropsychologist and Co-Director of the Mayo Clinic Arizona Sports Neurology and Concussion Program; Chair, Athlete Development and Sports Rehabilitation Group of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.

  • Charlie Wund, President and CEO of InjureFree, a technology service involved in risk management for youth sports organizations and school districts.

  • Shellie Pfohl, President and CEO of the U.S. Center for SafeSport, whose mission is to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of our nation’s sports culture
