NPC Luncheon with Rudy Giuliani

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will assess the state of U.S. security in the 10 years since the September 11 terrorist attacks at a National Press Club Speakers Luncheon, Sept. 6.

Giuliani, a two-term Republican mayor of New York City, received widespread praise and international recognition for his leadership following with attacks September 11, 2001 on the World Trade Center. Time Magazine named Giuliani its "Person of the Year" in December 2001, and Britain's Queen Elizabeth granted him an honorary knighthood.

During his tenure as mayor, the former federal prosecutor and U.S. Attorney is credited with reducing crime in the city and instituting quality-of-life improvements by cracking down on panhandling, graffiti and drug possession.

After leaving office, Giuliani founded and leads Giuliani Partners, a security consulting firm. In 2007, he contended for the Republican Party nomination for the 2008 presidential election, but withdrew after a poor showing in early caucuses and primaries.

The Sept. 5 National Press Club luncheon begins promptly at 12:30 p.m. Remarks by Giuliani begin at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session. Cost of luncheon admission is $18 for National Press Club members, $29 for their guests, and $36 for the general public. Tickets must be purchased at time of reservation.
