Dr. Ben Carson, noted neurosurgeon and author of the new book "One Nation: What We Can All Do to Save America's Future," will be the guest speaker at a National Press Club luncheon on May 28.

Dr. Carson was director of pediatric surgery at Johns Hopkins University Hospital until he retired last year. In 2008, Dr. Carson was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush. Dr. Carson has received 38 honorary degrees and dozens of merit citations.

He now works as a columnist, author and speaker. Dr. Carson finished third, with 9 percent, in the 2016 Republican presidential straw poll conducted at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $22 for Press Club members ( NPC Members may purchase 2 tickets at this rate) and $36 for all other non-member tickets. A book signing will follow the luncheon.

NPC Members who wish to attend the pre- luncheon reception must RSVP separately to [email protected] no later than 48 hours before the event. Space may be limited. You must have a paid reservation to the Luncheon to attend the VIP reception
