NPC Luncheon
The chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Carol L. Folt, will discuss the importance of preserving accessibility to an affordable college degree at a National Press Club Luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Folt, who was installed as Carolina’s 11th chancellor in October 2013, is committed to making affordability and attainment for students a top priority at this global 21st century research university. Folt has also worked to successfully improve undergraduate graduation rates – particularly for low-income, first-generation and underrepresented students.
Nearly half of Carolina's 18,000 undergraduates receive aid, and it is one of the few public universities that is both need-blind and covers full financial need. The average debt for Carolina students at graduation has remained largely flat for more than a decade. As a result, The New York Times recently ranked Carolina the third most economically diverse "top" university in the country.
Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $23 for Press Club members (NPC Members may purchase two tickets at this rate) and $37 for all other non-member tickets.
For questions, please email [email protected] or call (202) 662–7501. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.
NPC Members who wish to attend the pre-luncheon reception must RSVP separately to [email protected] 48 hours before the event. Space may be limited. You must have a paid reservation to the Luncheon to attend the VIP reception.
