NPC Luncheon

Livestream will begin 8/7 at 1:00pm ET.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, will speak at a National Press Club Headliners luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 7. Cummings will address the Oversight Committee’s investigations into the Trump Administration. In a recent letter to acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, Cummings complained that the White House had ignored the committee's requests for information and has not complied with the Presidential Records Act. The committee is seeking notes on President Trump's private conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Cummings, who represents Baltimore in Maryland’s 7th congressional district, will also discuss the Oversight Committee’s investigation into the prescription drug industry’s pricing practices, launched earlier this year. Now serving in his 13th term in the House, Cummings has been an outspoken advocate for affordable health care. He has also been a leader in the fight against drug abuse, as well as the push for urban revitalization and assistance to lower income Americans. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for National Press Club members (members may purchase two tickets at this rate) and $39 for all other non-member tickets. For all ticketing-related questions, please email [email protected]. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase. To submit a question for the speaker in advance, put OVERSIGHT in the subject line and email to [email protected]. The deadline for submitting questions in advance is 10 a.m. on the day of the luncheon. NPC Members who have a paid reservation to the Luncheon and wish to attend the pre-luncheon reception must send their RSVP via email to [email protected] at least 48 hours before the date of the Luncheon. Space may be limited.
