Join Commissioner of Food and Drugs Robert M. Califf, M.D. for a Headliners address on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 12:30 to 2 pm at the National Press Club.

The Food and Drug Administration oversees the safety of more than $2.1 trillion worth of food, tobacco, and medical products produced in the U.S. and abroad, and regulates about 75% of the U.S. food supply. Dr. Califf's remarks will focus on communication and its link to health outcomes, and will be followed by a question-and-answer period.

The Headliners event begins with a light lunch in the Holeman Lounge at 12:30 p.m. Remarks begin at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m.

Dr. Califf, who assumed office on Feb. 17, 2022, is serving for the second time as FDA commissioner. He served previously from February 2016 to January 2017. Before rejoining the FDA, Dr. Califf was a senior advisor at Alphabet, Inc. where he served as head of medical strategy. He joined Alphabet in 2019, after serving as a professor of medicine and vice chancellor for clinical and translational research at Duke University.
