Harry Dunn, a  Capitol police officer on duty on Jan. 6, 2021, as an angry mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, will discuss his new book, “Standing My Ground: A Capitol Police Officer’s Fight for Accountability and Good Trouble After January 6th” at a National Press Club Headliners Book Event on Oct. 26 at 10 a.m.

Many people watched the deadly attack on the Capitol unfold live in mesmerizing fashion on television. Fewer were there to experience it.

Dunn stood at democracy’s door that cold day between what was supposed to be the centuries-old peaceful transfer of post-election power and a jaw-dropping, often violent, attempt to stop it. Dunn’s book recounts that fateful day and those that followed, including his riveting testimony before the bipartisan January 6th committee, as it examines the political and racial divides that threaten our democracy.

The Coffee and Conversation book event will feature a moderated discussion with the author, an audience question-and-answer session, and a book signing. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with a light breakfast of coffee, team, muffins and pastries.

Tickets cost $5 for members of the National Press Club and $15 for the general public. Pre-ordered books will be available for pickup and signing at the event. Attendees will also be able to purchase books at the door.

To submit a question in advance for the panel, put “JAN 6” in the subject line and email to [email protected].
