Breakfast
The NPC Freelance Committee has had two very productive meetings so far this year: in March highly successful NPC freelance member Karen Thuermer shared her "Valuable tips for serious freelancers"; in April we had a discussion on "Sharing experiences on networking and managing contacts and business cards" followed by three events for freelancers to practice those skills at the Press Club at meetings of three major journalism freelancer contractors.
Now we're planning a hands-on 'how to' just for NPC freelancers for our May 26 meeting: "How to take and send news photos on your smart phone". Want to learn more about all these programs?
Come breakfast with the NPC Freelance Committee on Thursday May 26 from 8:30am to 9:30am in the McClendon Room.
We won't waste your time: At 8:30 sharp are 30-second "Who Are We" introductions; then the 30 minute program followed by a 25 minutes topical discussion: this one will be on "Sharing Job Tips in a Competitive Freelance World" (note: I've started to get notices from employers looking for serious news freelance journalists; I will be talking about how to handle these with the club President next week but want to know what you think: should they be sent just to freelance committee members? To a vetted data base? To all the NPC members? Should there be a way of letting club/committee members with specialties know of jobs that are seeking their expertise, or just make general announcements?)
So come! Share what you think. Learn how the club can help you get more freelance assignments.
