Bill Novelli, one of the most innovative and respected communications and advocacy leaders of our time, will be the featured guest at the National Press Club’s Communicator Legends Dinner on Thursday, February 20, 2020.

Mr. Novelli’s professional journey has taken him from his first marketing job in the “mad men” days of the corporate/ad agency world to the public sector, leading advertising for the Peace Corps. While recruiting people to serve the public good, he recognized a market gap in communications services, and co-founded a PR firm, Porter Novelli. The firm was a pioneer in “social marketing,” using traditional marketing techniques to achieve social and behavioral change. The firm became a national and international success, and he was named of the most influential PR professionals – yet, for Mr. Novelli, there was still much more to do. He returned to public service, leading organizations such as CARE, the world’s largest private relief organization; the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids; and, AARP. During his tenure as CEO, AARP greatly expanded in size, budget and political influence.

Today, Mr. Novelli serves as the head of Georgetown University’s Business for Impact Initiative and is a professor in the McDonough School of Business. He also co-leads the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care, advocating for better, more humane ways to provide care in the final stages of life. He is a sought-after speaker, writer, and member of numerous boards and advisory committees.

  • A three-course dinner with wine will be served for $58 per person.
  • Cash bar at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
  • Business attire.
