Oncology leaders driving the future of cancer research will convene at the National Press Club on Friday, October 24, 2025, for the NFCR Global Summit and Award Ceremonies for Cancer Research & Entrepreneurship (Visit Event Page). Monica Bertagnolli, M.D., 17th Director of the National Institutes of Health, will deliver the morning keynote presentation. Other distinguished leaders involved include:

  • Webster K. Cavenee, Ph.D., globally acclaimed leader in cancer genetics and tumor biology
  • Lisa Coussens, Ph.D., former President of the American Association for Cancer Research
  • Nathan Lear, Head of Advanced Medical Analytics at AstraZeneca

Topics for discussion in the panel sessions include AI-driven cancer discovery, adaptive therapy, predictive medicine, and early detection of cancer.

The evening will culminate with the Szent-Györgyi Prize for Progress in Cancer Research Dinner & Award Ceremony, recognizing Tony Hunter, PhD, of the Salk Institute for his breakthrough that launched the era of targeted cancer therapies and paved the way for more than 50 FDA-approved drugs.
