The National Press Club will hold a moment of silence in observance of the fifth anniversary of the murder of Washington Post Global Opinions contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi on Monday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m. ET.
Khashoggi, who was openly critical of the Saudi government in his columns for the Washington Post, was ambushed by 15 Saudi government officials inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and killed and dismembered half a decade ago on October 2, 2018. The team was sent there for the express purpose of killing Jamal. According to U.S. intelligence the mission was approved by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman. Jamal's body has never been recovered.
