PROGRAM UPDATE: The Nuremberg trials made history, including for news photography, Oct. 15
November 20th marks the 80th anniversary of the first Nuremberg trials (International Military Tribunal) of Nazi war criminals. Today, the memory of the Nuremberg trials remains largely due to their press coverage, including iconic news photos, by journalists of the greatest generation.
Our Photography Team vice-chair Noël-Marie Fletcher is the author of the recent book "Reporting the Nuremberg Trials: How Journalists Covered Live Nazi Trials and Executions". Noel will tell how publicity was a main consideration of Allied authorities, who incorporated the latest innovations and technology that made possible still photos and movie cameras in the courtroom. The book recently received the national first-place award for non-fiction history from National Federation of Press Women.
The meeting on October 15th is in the Cosgrove Lounge on the 14th floor. We will begin with a self-funded lunch at 12 noon, and start the program for both in-person and remote participants at 12:45 pm. Registration is free and open to all NPC members, but registration is required.
