Whatever subject you’re covering, National Press Club members have access to real-time breaking news and in-depth research from the Bloomberg Terminal in the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library inside the Club.
John Hughes, deputy team lead at Bloomberg Industry Group and a past president of the Club, will share how to use the Bloomberg Terminal at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 3. The news and information resource is available at no cost to Club members and is among the various tools available to help your research and reporting.
The in person training is free for NPC members and $10 for non-members. Registration is open.
Bloomberg covers news in more than 100 countries, with real-time information on markets, economies, politics and more. Whether you specialize in a particular industry or are curious about how the terminal can assist you in your work, plan to attend this how-to session. This training is part of a series of workshops intended to introduce journalists and communicators to databases and resources available in the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library.

About the speaker
John Hughes has been a deputy team lead for Bloomberg Industry Group’s law publication since November 2021. Before that he has been an editor or reporter for Bloomberg since December 2000, including nearly 11 years as an aviation/transportation reporter and eight years as an editor on the breaking news desk.
From 1996 to 2000, Hughes worked for The Associated Press, and before that he worked for a chain of small newspapers based in the Midwest. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
Hughes served for 10 years on the National Press Club Board of Governors, filling the role of president in 2015. In 2011, he co-founded Friends of the Soldiers Home, a nonprofit organization that serves residents of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington. He serves as chairman.
