ABOUT THE EVENT

March of Dimes National Press Club Event in the Nation’s Capital:

March of Dimes is hosting an event at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. to mark the release of the 2022 Report Card and the Mamagenda delivery to congress. The Report Card will highlight the increase in pre-term birth rates in the US and the ongoing disparities which cause continual hindrances to adequate medical care. Alongside this report, we’ll officially deliver our mission for change outlined in our advocacy campaign - the Mamagenda.

The 2022 Report Card is the first to capture a full year of data on preterm birth from the COVID-19 pandemic and follows the release of the
2022 Maternity Care Deserts Report last month, which found 6.9 million women of childbearing age living in areas with no or limited access to maternity care services. Both reports highlight the tremendous impact made to the state of maternal and infant care in the U.S. caused by changes in provider care and insurance coverage, as well as the long-term socioeconomic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

About the Mamagenda for #BlanketChange

As a convener of organizations and individuals alike to advocate for change, March of Dimes launched the Mamagenda for #BlanketChange on October 11 to rally nationwide support to fight for the health of moms and babies. While no single solution will solve the challenges of limited access to care, this comprehensive campaign will help increase public awareness for the lack of maternity care access and show everyone has a role to play in improving care for moms and babies. #BlanketChange partners include Phillips, Reckitt, EMD Serono, Clearblue and The Honest Company, among other national, regional, and local healthcare and advocacy groups.

March of Dimes is urging lawmakers to support the Mamagenda for #BlanketChange for better health access and to work towards achieving health equity. Moms and babies should be a priority, not an afterthought. Visit BlanketChange.org to learn more and join the growing number of partners committed to improving maternity care for all.
