NPC Newsmaker

As the prime-time host of 11 Olympic games, seven Super Bowls, seven World Series, and 10 NBA finals, legendary broadcaster and play-by-play announcer Bob Costas has called some of the most significant moments in modern American sports history.

On Friday, November 6, Costas will join National Press Club President Michael Freedman for an in-depth discussion on the state of American sports amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the role that our teams and sports stars have played in tackling systemic issues like racism and inequality.

This one-hour program will stream live at 3:00 p.m. ET on the Club’s website and YouTube Channel, and is accessible to both the media and members of the general public free-of-charge.  Viewers can send their questions for Costas in advance or during the live program via email to [email protected].

Costas spent nearly four decades in prominent roles at NBC Sports and currently serves as a host and play-by-play announcer for the MLB Network and an on-air contributor for CNN. Costas has won 28 Emmy Awards over the course of his career, more than any other sportscaster. He is the only person in television history to win Emmy Awards in the categories of News, Sports and Entertainment. In 2018, he was inducted into the Broadcasters Wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
