NPC Book Event

Marvin Kalb, award-winning journalist and moderator of the public broadcasting series “The Kalb Report,” will share the second volume of his personal memoirs, “Assignment Russia: Becoming a Foreign Correspondent in the Crucible of the Cold War,” at a National Press Club Virtual Book Event at 2:00 p.m. on April 13.

Kalb’s career in journalism began just as legendary newsman Edward R. Murrow and his band of “Murrow Boys” were inventing broadcast news as we know it today. As the last correspondent personally hired by Murrow at CBS News, Kalb recalls what it was like to be a young foreign correspondent at the dawn of a new era of journalism, reporting from Moscow during some of the most defining moments of the Cold War.

This one-hour program will stream live on the Club’s website and YouTube Channel as part of the National Press Club’s Virtual Headliners series, and is accessible to both the press and general public free-of-charge.

Viewers are invited to submit their questions for Kalb in advance or during the live program via email to [email protected].
