Washington Post columnist Karen Tumulty will discuss her new book “The Triumph of Nancy Reagan” at a National Press Club Headliners virtual book event at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9.
This one-hour program will stream live on the Club’s website and YouTube Channel and is accessible to both the press and general public free-of-charge. Viewers can submit their questions for Tumulty in advance or during the live program via email to [email protected], with “Nancy Reagan” in the subject line.
Drawing on overlooked archives, letters, memoirs, and White House records, as well as four years of interviews, Tumulty has written an extensive biography of Nancy Reagan which historian Doris Kearns Goodwin has called, “the gold standard of books on First Ladies for generations to come.”
In “The Triumph of Nancy Reagan,” Tumulty explores how the made-in-Hollywood marriage of Ronald and Nancy Reagan was more than a love story—it was a partnership that made Ronald president. Tumulty tells the story of the powerful and often unseen influence of First Lady Nancy Reagan and how she made herself a place in history.
