Jake Tapper, CNN anchor and chief Washington correspondent, will discuss his book “The Devil May Dance: A Novel” at a National Press Club Headliners virtual book event at 1pm on Thursday, June 3.

This one-hour program will stream live on the Club’s website and YouTube Channel as part of the National Press Club’s Virtual Headliner series, and is accessible to both the press and general public free-of-charge. Viewers are invited to submit their questions for Tapper in advance or during the live program via email to [email protected], with “Tapper” in the subject line.

“The Devil May Dance” is a sequel to Tapper’s 2018 New York Times best-selling debut novel “The HellFire Club,” which is being turned into a series by HBO Max. This time, lead characters  Charlie and Margaret Marder discover the dark side of Hollywood after being sent there by Attorney General Robert Kenndy to investigate a national security threat. They befriend Frank Sinatra, a close friend of President John F. Kennedy and rumored mob crony which leads to late-night adventures with the Rat Pack and a body in the trunk of their car.  Charlie and Margaret are pursued by sinister forces from Hollywood stages to the newly founded Church of Scientology. Publishers Weekly describes the novel as an “excellent cocktail of corruption and ambition.”

Tapper joined CNN in 2013 after nine years at ABC News where he served most recently as chief White House correspondent. He began his journalism career at Washington City paper followed by Salon.com. He has also drawn caricatures and illustrations for the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times, and his comic strip, "Capitol Hell," appeared in Roll Call from 1994 to 2003. Tapper is the author of four other books; “The Hellfire Club,” “The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor” which was made into a film in 2020, ” “Down and Dirty: The Plot to Steal the Presidency,” and “Body Slam: The Jesse Ventura Story.”
